The Survivor Tree at the Oklahoma City National Memorial

An American elm known as the 'Survivor Tree' stands within the Oklahoma City National Memorial and survived the 1995 Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building bombing despite heavy damage. The tree was treated and nursed back to health and is maintained as a living symbol at the memorial site. Saplings and seeds propagated from the Survivor Tree have been distributed for planting at other memorials and commemorative projects.
