Alexandrovskiye Trade Rows

The Alexandrovskiye Trade Rows, located in Taganrog, are a remarkable example of 19th-century architecture designed by architect M. Campinioni. Constructed in the 1840s, this architectural ensemble originally featured two identical single-storey buildings that elegantly encircle the Alexandrovskaya Square. With their grand Doric columns and antique temple-like appearance, the rows housed shops that were integral to the local economy, including one rented by Anton Chekhov's family. Over the years, the structure has undergone various changes, including damage during WWII and restoration efforts, with the most recent restoration completed in 2007. Today, visitors can appreciate the historical significance and architectural beauty of the trade rows, which remain a vibrant part of Taganrog's cultural landscape.
