Gothic House (Puławy)

The Gothic House, or Domek Gotycki, is a charming neo-Gothic garden pavilion located in Puławy, Poland, within the picturesque grounds of the Pałac Czartoryskich. Constructed between 1801 and 1809 by architect Chrystian Piotr Aigner, this unique structure was built on the remnants of a Baroque pavilion destroyed during the 1794 conflicts. It features a blend of new masonry and historic stones sourced from Italy, Spain, and Poland, collected by Izabela Czartoryska for her lapidarium. Originally intended to enhance the nearby Temple of the Sibyl, the pavilion showcases various artifacts. However, following political upheavals in the 19th century, much of its historical stonework was lost due to Russian confiscation efforts. Today, the Gothic House stands as a testament to the region's rich cultural heritage and architectural beauty, making it a fascinating stop for tourists and researchers alike.
