National Museum of African American History and Culture - Distinctive corona façade and 2016 opening

The National Museum of African American History and Culture is a Smithsonian museum that opened to the public in 2016. Its building was designed by architect David Adjaye with a three-tiered bronze-colored exterior lattice often described as a 'corona,' a form inspired by West African (including Yoruba) metalwork. The museum houses exhibitions documenting African American history and culture and is located on the National Mall adjacent to the Washington Monument.
