Rosenbach Museum & Library's tucked townhouse collections

The Rosenbach occupies two restored 19th‑century townhouses on Delancey Place and houses rare literary and historical materials, including Lewis Carroll’s original manuscript for Alice's Adventures Under Ground and a leaf from a Gutenberg Bible. The museum’s exhibitions are displayed in domestic rooms rather than large gallery spaces. Its location on a quiet residential block makes the institution less conspicuous than nearby museum institutions.
