Murder of "Crazy Joe" Gallo at Umberto's Clam House

On April 7, 1972, mobster Joseph "Crazy Joe" Gallo was shot while dining at Umberto's Clam House in Little Italy. The attack occurred at the restaurant's location during a birthday celebration and Gallo was mortally wounded, later dying of his injuries. The shooting at 129 Mulberry Street became a notorious assassination in New York City's organized-crime history.
