Palace of Fine Arts and architect Bernard Maybeck

The Palace of Fine Arts was designed by architect Bernard Maybeck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition and remains one of the exposition's most recognizable surviving structures. Maybeck's classical-inspired rotunda and colonnades were intended as a temporary exposition feature but were preserved and rebuilt; the site is listed as a San Francisco landmark. The Palace has been adapted over time for public and cultural uses adjacent to the Marina District.
