Wood Worsted Mill

The Wood Worsted Mill, located in Lawrence, Massachusetts, is a historic textile manufacturing site built between 1906 and 1909 for the American Woolen Company. Known for its impressive size, the six-story brick building stretches 1,300 feet long and 125 feet high, featuring 17 miles of aisles. It was designed to handle the entire process of worsted woolen production under one roof. The mill complex includes a partially surviving seven-story storehouse and showcases Romanesque Revival architecture. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010, the site is notable for its historical significance and ongoing redevelopment, with part of the mill being converted into residential housing.
