Sunset Park Courthouse

The Sunset Park Courthouse, located in Brooklyn, New York City, is a historic building constructed between 1930 and 1931, designed in the Neoclassical style by architect Mortimer Dickerson Metcalfe. Notable for its limestone facade and Ionic columns, it features separate entrances for the Municipal and Magistrates Courts. After ceasing court operations in 1962, the building has served various community purposes, including housing the New York City Job Preparation Center and the Sunset Park Senior Citizens Center. Following a renovation in 1996, it became the primary processing center for the New York Police Department. The courthouse was designated a New York City Landmark in 2001, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in the architectural and social history of the area.
