Sands Hotel - home of the Copa Room and Rat Pack performances

The Sands Hotel, which opened in 1952, was a landmark Strip resort whose Copa Room nightclub hosted high-profile entertainers including members of the Rat Pack during the 1950s and 1960s. The Sands was demolished by controlled implosion in 1996 to clear the site for the Venetian resort complex that followed. The Copa Room and Sands-era performances are frequently cited in histories of Las Vegas entertainment and Rat Pack-era nightlife.
