Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World)

The Statue of Liberty, titled Liberty Enlightening the World, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi with engineering by Gustave Eiffel and was dedicated on October 28, 1886 as a gift from France to the United States. The statue stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor and has long been a public symbol of freedom and immigration. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984 and is managed by the National Park Service as a national monument.
