World War Memorial (Kimball, West Virginia)

The World War Memorial in Kimball, West Virginia, is a historic site dedicated to African American veterans of World War I, constructed in 1928. It was the first memorial of its kind in the United States and reflects the significant contribution of African Americans from McDowell County, which had the largest population of African Americans in the Appalachian region at the time.
