Petersen (Boarding) House - Where Lincoln died and associated haunt stories

The Petersen House, across from Ford's Theatre, is the boarding house where President Abraham Lincoln was taken after he was shot and where he died on April 15, 1865; it is preserved as part of the historic site. Museum staff and visitors have sometimes reported cold spots, unexplained noises, and other phenomena in the house, and these reports appear in tour literature and regional accounts of haunted sites. Such stories are part of the site's public history and folklore and are discussed with acknowledgement that they are anecdotal and debated. The property is managed as an historic house museum at its original address.
