Abraham Barton House

The Abraham Barton House, located in Lexington, Kentucky, is a historic Greek Revival structure built in 1795. Originally constructed for merchant Peyton Short, the house underwent significant renovations in the 1830s by architect Gideon Shryock, who also changed its front exposure. The house has a rich history, having been owned by notable figures such as George Caldwell and Abraham Barton, a prominent local merchant. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in early American architecture and local history.
