Old South Meeting House

Built in 1729, the Old South Meeting House served as a major public meeting place in colonial Boston and was the site of large gatherings in the lead-up to the Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773. The building hosted public debates and assemblies about taxation and colonial rights during the 18th century. It was later preserved as a museum that interprets its role in Revolutionary-era politics and public assembly. The site is a designated historic landmark on Boston's Freedom Trail.
