Ryman Auditorium (originally Union Gospel Tabernacle)

Built in 1892 as the Union Gospel Tabernacle and financed by riverboat captain Thomas G. Ryman, the building originally served as a church and revival meeting hall. It was later converted to a performance venue and renamed Ryman Auditorium. The Grand Ole Opry was housed at the Ryman from 1943 until 1974. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
