Smithsonian's National Zoo - Elephant Trails habitat

Elephant Trails is the Smithsonian’s National Zoo’s primary installation for its Asian elephant herd, comprising indoor barns, expanded outdoor yards, a wading pool, and varied terrain intended to support natural elephant behaviors. The habitat is part of the Zoo’s conservation, research, and public-education mission and is staffed by the National Zoo’s animal care and veterinary teams. The Smithsonian National Zoo is managed by the Smithsonian Institution and open to the public with no general admission fee.
