Old United States Mint (The Granite Lady)

The Old United States Mint, nicknamed the 'Granite Lady,' is a historic federal building that served as the San Francisco Mint until 1937. Completed in 1874, it was one of the few major structures to survive the 1906 earthquake and fire and stored large amounts of gold during that period. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been the subject of preservation and adaptive-reuse proposals.
