Rokkakudō (Kitaibaraki)

Rokkakudō, a hexagonal wooden retreat built in 1905, is located along the scenic Izura coast in Kitaibaraki, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Designed in the traditional sukiya-zukuri style by the renowned scholar Okakura Tenshin, this charming structure offers stunning sea views and has historical significance as part of the Izura Institute of Arts & Culture. Despite being swept away by the 2011 tsunami, Rokkakudō was rebuilt and reopened to the public in 2012, making it a unique destination for tourists and researchers interested in Japanese culture and architecture.
