Cable Car Museum (Washington-Mason Barn & Powerhouse)

The Cable Car Museum at the Washington-Mason Barn and Powerhouse contains the winding machinery that still powers San Francisco's historic cable car lines and a collection of retired cable cars and related artifacts. The building houses the central power house where huge winding wheels pull the continuous cables that cars grip to move along their routes. The museum is open to the public and documents the operational and technological history of the city's cable car system.
