Wood Lawn, a historic plantation house built in 1836, is located near Mount Mourne, North Carolina, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This architectural gem showcases the Federal-Greek Revival style, characteristic of the Piedmont region during the 19th century. Originally constructed by Dr. George Washington Stinson, a founding trustee of Davidson College, the house features eight rooms, each with its own fireplace, and a stunning walnut spiral staircase. The home was a social hub for Davidson College students, known for its lively square dancing events. Today, Wood Lawn serves as the administration building for Woodlawn School, after being renovated in 2003, preserving its historical significance while continuing to serve the community.
