Washington Park Arboretum dawn redwood specimens

The Washington Park Arboretum maintains a living collection of specimen trees, including early West Coast plantings of Metasequoia (dawn redwood), a species rediscovered in China in the 1940s and introduced to botanical collections worldwide. The Arboretum's tree collections have been used for horticultural research and public education since the site was developed in the early 20th century. The site is jointly managed by the University of Washington and Seattle Parks and offers trails and interpretive signage about its notable trees.
