Market Square Arena demolition

Market Square Arena opened in 1974 and was downtown Indianapolis's primary indoor arena for decades. It was the home court of the Indiana Pacers from 1974 until the team moved to Conseco Fieldhouse (now Gainbridge Fieldhouse) in 1999. The arena was demolished in 2001, removing a prominent structure that had hosted sports, concerts, and public events. Its demolition cleared the site for later redevelopment in the downtown Market Square area.
