Coit Tower New Deal-Era Murals

Coit Tower on Telegraph Hill contains a large ensemble of fresco murals painted in 1934 by some 25 artists and their assistants under a New Deal art program. The murals portray scenes of California life, labor, and industry and were controversial at the time for their political content. The interior murals are among the most significant public art projects from the era in San Francisco.
