Hermitage Hunting Lodge

The Hermitage Hunting Lodge, located in Dyrehaven north of Copenhagen, is a stunning Baroque-style building constructed between 1734 and 1736 for Christian VI of Denmark. Originally designed for royal banquets during hunts, it featured a unique hoisting system to serve meals in solitude. The lodge has a rich history, having undergone several renovations and changes in ownership, including a significant restoration in the 1890s. It played a pivotal role in Danish history, notably as the site where King Frederik VII signed the constitution in 1849, marking the end of absolute monarchy. Today, it is managed by the Agency for Palaces & Cultural Properties and is open to the public after a recent refurbishment, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers alike.
