The Alamo (Mission San Antonio de Valero)

The Alamo is an 18th-century Spanish mission and fortress that became the site of the 1836 Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution. The surviving chapel and long barracks incorporate masonry dating to the late 1700s and later 19th-century repairs. The site is preserved and interpreted as a museum and historic landmark in downtown San Antonio.
