Villa Sormani

Villa Sormani, located in the village of Moncucco in Brugherio, Italy, is a stunning baroque building with a rich history. Built in 1733 by architect Giovanni Ruggeri, it was the site of Italy's first public balloon flight in 1784, organized by Count Paolo Andreani. The villa features a grand stairway leading to its main entrance and is surrounded by beautiful grounds that include the Saint Lucius Church, which was relocated from Switzerland. The church, redesigned by architect Giocondo Albertolli, took 17 years to transport and was reopened in 1832. Today, Villa Sormani stands as a testament to Italy's historical advancements in aviation and architectural beauty, making it an intriguing destination for tourists and researchers alike.
