Originally built in the mid-18th century, the palace has undergone several renovations and expansions, particularly under notable architects like Mikhail Ovsyannikov and Gaspare Fossati. The building features a striking facade with Doric columns and a unique Venetian-style portal. It has a rich history, having been owned by various aristocrats, including the Yusupov family, before being nationalized after the Russian Revolution. Today, it is recognized as a cultural monument of federal significance and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage site encompassing the Historic Centre of Saint Petersburg.
