Chief Kashakes House

The Chief Kashakes House, also known as the Eagle Tail House, is a historic Tlingit clan house located in Saxman, Alaska. Built in 1895, it is the first structure in Saxman and the only surviving clan house of its kind. This two-story wood-frame building features a hip roof and shiplap siding, with a reduced porch at the front. It is flanked by three totem poles, including two eagle-topped poles and a beaver pole, and an old Russian cannon stands nearby. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in indigenous culture and history.
