Fabyan Guard Station

The Fabyan Guard Station is a historic building located in the White Mountain National Forest of northern New Hampshire. Built in 1923, it is the only surviving guard station of its kind in the White Mountains and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. This charming single-story log structure, measuring approximately 16 by 20 feet, showcases traditional construction techniques using spruce logs and oakum chinking. Originally built to house Forest Service employees, it played a vital role in managing the forest during a time when access was challenging. Visitors can find it along Cherry Mountain Road, a historic route that was once part of the Jefferson Turnpike, making it a unique stop for those interested in history and nature.
