Eastern State Penitentiary (rotunda and guard tower sightlines)

Eastern State Penitentiary’s radial design and central rotunda create interior sightlines and framed views across its yard walls toward the Philadelphia skyline. Historically the guard towers and high walls served as vantage points for oversight of the prison complex; today visitors on guided tours can observe Center City on the horizon from the site. The penitentiary is open for public tours and seasonal programs that highlight both its architecture and surrounding urban vistas.
