Marché en Fer

Marché en Fer, also known as the Iron Market, is a historic public market located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Originally constructed in Paris for a railway station in Cairo, it was brought to Haiti in 1891 by President Florvil Hyppolite. The market features two large iron-framed halls adorned with red and green accents, connected by a gate with domed towers and a clock. Despite suffering multiple fires and being completely destroyed in the 2010 earthquake, it was rebuilt and reopened in 2011 with the help of international support. The market is a symbol of resilience and cultural heritage, making it a significant site for tourists and researchers interested in Haiti's history and architecture.
