Holt and Balcom Logging Camp No. 1

The Holt and Balcom Logging Camp No. 1, established around 1880 in Lakewood, Wisconsin, is recognized as the oldest surviving lumber camp in its original location in the state. This historic site, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, offers a glimpse into the logging practices of the late 19th century. Originally built by the Holt-Balcom Lumber Company, the camp features a cook house and bunk house constructed from locally sourced white pine logs.
