Building at 28–34½ Academy Street

The Building at 28–34½ Academy Street is a historic apartment building in Newark, Delaware, constructed in 1888. This 2+1⁄2-story frame structure features 16 bays on its east main facade and was originally designed as an eight-unit row house. Known locally as 'Skid Row,' it serves as a popular housing option for University of Delaware students. The site has a vibrant history, including hosting the annual music event 'Skidfest' in its rear yard. It was recognized for its historical significance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
