Henry Bull House

The Henry Bull House, located in Newport, Rhode Island, was believed to be the oldest house in the state, with origins dating back to 1639. This historic structure was associated with Henry Bull, a prominent Quaker leader and one of the original settlers of Rhode Island. Bull, who served as a colonial militia officer, lived in the house until his death in 1694. The house underwent significant modifications over the years and was thought to have housed the original Newport jail. Unfortunately, the Henry Bull House was destroyed by fire in December 1912, marking the end of a significant piece of Rhode Island's colonial history.
