African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP)

The African American Museum in Philadelphia was founded in 1976 during the U.S. Bicentennial to preserve and interpret the history and culture of African Americans. Its collections include fine art, artifacts, and historical exhibits that explore African American contributions, community history, and cultural expression; the museum also offers public programs and rotating exhibitions. It is located near Independence Mall in Center City.
