Griechenbeisl

Griechenbeisl is one of Vienna's oldest restaurants, established in 1447, located near the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Originally a guest house, it reflects the city's historical trade relations with the Orient. The restaurant has undergone several name changes and has been a significant part of the Greek quarter since the 17th century. Notably, in 1852, it introduced the famous Pilsner Urquell beer to Vienna. The establishment is also linked to the fictional character Marx Augustin, a 17th-century singer and bagpiper who was said to perform there.
