Globe Works, Accrington

The Globe Works, established in 1853 in Accrington, Lancashire, was a significant industrial site known for manufacturing machinery and looms for the cotton industry. Originally founded by Howard and Bleakley, it became a leader in loom production under James Bullough, employing thousands during its peak. The factory played a crucial role during World War II by producing weapon components. After closing in 1993, the site was refurbished and is now known as The Globe Centre, housing offices and training programs, providing employment for around 1,000 people and training for over 125 young individuals annually. This transformation highlights the site's historical significance and its ongoing contribution to the local economy.
