Barton Springs Cave (submerged karst vent)

Barton Springs Cave is a submerged karst cave and spring vent located beneath Barton Springs Pool in Zilker Park. The cave is an opening in the Edwards Group limestone and contributes groundwater to the Barton Springs spring system. The entrance lies underwater and public access is restricted; scientific and permitted cave-diving surveys have documented subterranean passages connected to the spring. The feature is managed as part of the City of Austin's spring and aquifer protections.
