Saraj (Resen)

The Saraj is a historic Neoclassical estate located in Resen, North Macedonia, built in the late 19th century by Ahmed Niyazi Bey, a local Ottoman bey. Its unique architectural style features a symmetrical design with a central portion rising 35 meters and rich sculptural details. Originally intended as a French-style palace, the Saraj has served various purposes throughout its history, including administrative functions and a city hall, before becoming a museum and cultural center. Today, it houses the Dragi Tozija House of Culture, the Resen Ceramic Colony, a gallery dedicated to painter Keraca Visulčeva, and a library with over 31,000 books, making it a vibrant hub for cultural events and artistic expression.
