Wendler Building

The Wendler Building, located at 400 D Street in Anchorage, Alaska, is the city's oldest commercial building, constructed in 1915 by Tony and Florence Wendler. This historic site was originally situated at 4th and I Streets before being relocated in 1984. Initially serving as a store, it transitioned into a boarding house in 1920 and later became Club 25, an exclusive women's club established in 1948. The building was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, making it a notable landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Anchorage's social history.
