St. Mary's Beneficial Society Hall (Upper Marlboro, Maryland)

Constructed in 1892, St. Mary's Beneficial Society Hall is a historic building in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, that played a vital role in the African American community as a meeting place, social and political center, and house of worship during a time of segregation. Located near St. Mary's Catholic Church, this one-story wood frame structure exemplifies the significance of community spaces in history. In 2005, it was recognized for its historical importance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and it has since been converted into office space.
