The Morgan Library & Museum

The Morgan Library & Museum began as the private library of financier J. P. Morgan and the original Charles McKim–designed building was completed in 1906; the institution opened to the public as a museum in 1924. The museum's core collections include rare books, manuscripts, drawings, and decorative arts assembled by Morgan, and the complex has been expanded with later buildings and galleries. The Morgan is widely recognized for its architectural and cultural significance and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
