MaestraPeace Mural at The Women's Building

The MaestraPeace mural, painted on the exterior of The Women's Building in the Mission District, was completed in 1994 by a collective of women artists and celebrates women’s contributions across cultures and histories. The mural covers multiple panels on the building’s south and west facades and incorporates imagery of female leaders, mythic figures, and cultural symbols. It is widely cited as one of the largest community-created murals by women in the United States and remains a focal point of public art and community identity in the neighborhood.
