Fort Caroline National Memorial

Fort Caroline National Memorial commemorates the 1564 French Huguenot colonial settlement established near the St. Johns River. The memorial interprets the short-lived colony and the 1565 Spanish attack led by Pedro Menéndez de Avilés that ended French presence in the area. The National Park Service site includes interpretive exhibits and a reconstructed palisade illustrating 16th-century European colonial contact.
