Fraenkel Gallery founding and focus

Fraenkel Gallery was founded in 1979 and is located in San Francisco's 49 Geary building. The gallery has specialized in historical and contemporary photography and photo-based work since its founding. Fraenkel has organized numerous exhibitions and publications in collaboration with major museums and institutions.
