George Hill Building

The George Hill Building, constructed in 1897, is a historic three-story structure located at 527 F Street in San Diego's vibrant Gaslamp Quarter. Originally built to replace Horton’s Hall after a fire, it features five storerooms on the ground floor and thirty offices above. Notably, the San Diego Normal School, now known as San Diego State University, once occupied its upper floors. In 1920, it became home to the Ratner Cap Manufacturing Company, a significant player in the cap industry and the first of its kind on the West Coast, which later acquired the rights to the Hang Ten brand.
