Pavilion of Tervuren

The Pavilion of Tervuren, a former summer palace located in Tervuren, Belgium, was built between 1817 and 1823 for William II of the Netherlands. After the Belgian Revolution, it became part of the Belgian royal family's estate. Notably, Empress Charlotte of Belgium resided there briefly before it was destroyed by fire in 1879. Today, the site hosts the Palace of Colonies, which serves as the Royal Museum for Central Africa, showcasing the region's history and culture. The surrounding Tervuren Park, originally designed for royal privacy, features beautiful gardens and classical sculptures, making it a picturesque destination for tourists and researchers alike.
