Merseyside Centre for the Deaf

The Merseyside Centre for the Deaf, a Grade II listed building dating back to 1887, is located on Princes Avenue in Liverpool. Originally built as a chapel for the deaf community, it has faced challenges over the years, including being named a heritage building at risk of disrepair by the Victorian Society in 2018. After serving as a community center for the local Igbo community for two decades, it closed in 2007 due to rising costs. Today, the Merseyside Society for Deaf People operates as a charity in a new location, continuing to provide vital services across the region.
