Vamp Building

The Vamp Building, located at 3-15 Liberty Square in downtown Lynn, Massachusetts, is a historic factory building constructed in 1903. Designed by architect Henry Warren Rogers, this eight-story brick structure features a unique flatiron shape, resembling the vamp of a shoe, which inspired its name. Initially serving various shoe manufacturing businesses, it was the largest brick building of its kind globally at the time of its completion. Despite a fire in 1981 that damaged only its top floor, the building remains a testament to strong construction and fire safety measures. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, it is one of three notable buildings in Lynn designed by Rogers, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in industrial history and architecture.
